“Love is patient… slow to anger” I Cor 13:4-5

love

Will you pray with me, please?

Continual Creator,
Only you could have made us to have love, for you ARE love.  You are the source of our strength. I worship your amazing ways.

Laugh Lover,
I confess that I am having problems with another volunteer and need you to soften his heart and mine. Our history is of abrasion. I judge when I need not and become anxious when I even see e-mail from him. Remind me that I can do all things through you. Help me to remember that your love dwells in me and can be summoned even when I feel most angry. Bathe me in your grace, I beg of you, Lord.

Incredible Imagineer,
You gave us warmth on a cold day, the thought to build shelter against the wind. All that I have is from you and I am grateful! I love you so much!

Knowing that Jesus said to ask in His name, I dare to do so – I pray that you will help me and make my intent pure.

In Jesus name,
Amen.

To God be the glory!

Today is Oct. 25, 2013.  This morning’s Devotional, written be Rev. Kenneth Samuel, is based on

“But to obtain these gifts, you need more than faith; you must also work hard to be good, and even that is not enough.  For then you must learn to know God better and discover what God wants you to do.” – 2 Peter 1:5

The devotional addresses the need for practices based on one’s principles (the values, not the school administrator!)  Mentioned is Congress and their deadlock and how it doesn’t serve ANYone.  Will you pray with me, please?

Practical Peace,

You are!  You called yourself “I AM” when you spoke with our ancestors.  Only you have the power and the peace.  You are glorious and graceful!  Only you are worthy of my worship.  Amazing!

Loving Light,

This morning I pray for all the leaders of government – not only in my country but in all countries.  Help them to remember they have been put in power not for their benefit but for the benefit of all people, for the common GOOD.  Remind them that you transcend religion – that worshiping you are more important than the way in which we pray or the name we give you.  Common to all these is the love of you and one another, the emptying/humbling of oneself, the need to pray/meditate.  Remind them that you have the power and without you, nothing can be done.

Congress

Again, I remember people who have asked for prayer – young and old, healthy and ill, starting life or nearing its end on this earth.  Thea, Susan, Blair, our Pastoral Search Team, Marsha and Mike, Mary, her mother & her family, my own self.  I pray for Steve and for my relationship with him.   And being a mere mortal, I know I remember fewer names than requests.

Incredible Imagineer,

You also gave us gratitude, along with so many gifts.  I am grateful.  Thank you.

And I dare to pray in Jesus’ name,

Amen.

To God be the glory!

This one just needed to be offered to God.  It’s not eloquent; it’s just heartfelt.  Will you pray with me, please?

Creative Energy of the Universe,
Only you can heal wounds and illness. You are my God. I worship you!

Loving Light,
I think of so many today: Mike, Marsha, Susan, Matt, Steve, Thea, Joyce… this list is long and you know my heart. Heal them, I pray. Heal me, too. Send your spark to help us all rekindle the flame of our faith. Let us lean on your strength and rest in your loving arms.  Remind us to trust.

Incredible Imagineer,
All that we see, hear, smell, taste, touch — anything we can imagine — all comes from you who can imagine more than we mere mortals ever could. With a grateful heart, I thank Thee.

And I pray in Jesus’ name,
Amen.

To God be the glory!

But the Lord said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
– II Corinthians 12: 9-10

That phrase, “there but for the grace of God, go I…” has been used for years. Mama said it often.  It speaks to our vulnerability.  Similar to “that’s not happened to me”, but…  empathetic.  Anyway, I was hospitalized after going to the Doctor’s office with a ridiculously high blood pressure.  And lying there feeling vulnerable, I knew that “there go I”.

Will you pray with me, please?

Incredible Imagineer,

The universe reflects the beauty you envision.  Your creations sing your praise.  I worship you.  I pray on figurative bended knee while my fingers shout of your glory.

Loving Lord,

I pray today to give you the glory and to thank you for all you have done for me.  For I was ill and you healed me.  Your perfect power restored balance and stability to my life.

I am grateful.  I thank you, too for resolving Amy’s troubles.  That’s simply amazing!  And I am filled with gratitude for the friends you have provided who care for me.  The cards, the soup, the emails and calls; all demonstrate your love being spread through your followers.

And, Lord, thank you for relieving my mother-in-law’s pain.  Thank you for antibiotics that clear infection.  Thank you for physical therapy techniques that regenerate muscle mass and strength.  Thank you for returning clarity of thought.

Path Straightening God,

With every step, we are closer to your kingdom.  Speed it’s coming, Lord, so we may witness all you have done and all you can do.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

To God be the glory!
